Our society has operated under a misconception that the developing fetus at just about any stage, is just a "mass of undeveloped tissue."  We now know that a developing embryo is the beginning of life and is remarkable. From conception through birth it is: heart beating, arms and legs flailing, hair growing, listening, thumb sucking.  In short, a "fetus" is simply an "honest-to-goodness" human being.
